Shaw Cross Sharks 'A' or the Rats as they are more popularly known have been forced to end their season early due to a lack of players.
Rats head coach James Collins confirmed last Thursday that the team would no longer be able to compete in the Yorkshire Men's League for the remainder of the season.
"Unfortunately the time has come where we have to call it a day with the Rats, we don't have a big enough squad to field two teams week in week out," said Collins.
"I would just like to thank Mark Bickerdyke , Andrew Fawkes, Brett Turner and Graham Parker for all they have done to support me and also a big thanks to the committee.
"Cheers to everyone who has played for us in the last four years, we've had some great days and we've won a fair few trophies.
"Fingers crossed this won't be the end of the Rats but for this season we have no choice."
The club would like to reiterate that this is only a temporary measure and that the possibility of playing friendlies and putting a team in the winter league are things that are being considered.
The club's aim is to maintain a second team as it keeps all players in the squad playing on a regular basis and is a great avenue for members of the Under-18's to transition into open age.
Anyone who may be interested in joining the Rats can contact the club via Facebook or Twitter.
