Eleven players from the Shaw Cross Sharks Under-14 girls were part of winning teams at the Champion Schools Finals in Richmond last Friday afternoon.
Maddison Hirst, Jessica Woods, Jessica Harrap, Caitlin Carr, Aallisha Rhodes, Aalliyha Rhodes, Caroline Margere, Mia Simpson, Aome Stanley, Ebony Briggs, Hermione Brown and Hannah Mullooly all featured during the finals last week.
Nine players turned out for Outwood Grange Academy from Wakefield, beating Castleford Academy 34-12.
Aalliyha Rhodes scored a hat-trick of tries to help Outwood cruise to victory, Aome Stanley also notched a try.
Two players featured for St. John Fisher from Dewsbury, who also beat Cas Academy, winning 48-16.
“Not only was it a proud moment for myself and Bridgette as coaches watching the girls play for their schools and win but we were also very proud as parents,” said Sharks coach Wayne Hirst.
“My daughter Maddison and Bridgette’s daughter Jess played instrumental parts in helping their school teams win, as did all the girls from Shaw Cross.”
