Miners U 16 girls v Sharks U 16 girls
By Marc Dearn
Friendly at Leigh
Match report: Leigh Miners U16’s girls v Shaw Cross U16 girls
Today was the second meeting between the teams in just over week and the girls were keen to play at a venue that was new to them.
We first watched Sharks U14 girls play and they look a very good team, especially as this was only their second game.
It was a well played match with Sharks girls coming out as 30-18 winners.
The day was bright and warm which made a strong contrast to the snow and wind we had played in on the same day last year!
The Sharks started strongly, having most of the possession and were encamped in the Miners half for most of the first 20 minutes.
Despite this they failed to put the ball over the line. Amelie had two good attempts, but Miners held her up both times.
Half time: 0-0
The Sharks came out in the second half with a good passing game and had soon scored the first try of the match with Charlotte O going over in the right hand corner.
Courtney Marsh intercepted a Miners pass and ran 50 metres to score the Shares second try. She then converted it well.
It was all Sharks now and Maya scored twice with Neive adding a try too.
A very good game and the last of the friendlies.
We meet East Leeds at their ground on Saturday 2nd March for the first League game
Well done girls!
