Under 8s Leeds Rhinos Festival
By Paul March
The Under 8s enjoyed a great morning of Rugby on Saturday when they took part in the Leeds Rhinos touch and pass tournament.
On the day we had two teams playing on different pitches on pitch one we played Beeston, Farnley, Birkenshaw and Batley boys over on pitch two we played Chapel Town Cougars, Batley Boys, Farnley and Birkenshaw
All the boys gave their all in a format they have never played before, but with the skills on show you couldn’t tell.
The inter passing between the teams was pleasing for both coaches as things they are working on in training are been used in games, on pitch one you could have picked a handful of tries for try of the tournament from Toby has he showed great foot work and speed on a number of occasions to dart over for 5 tries, the one try that we will all remember is when lili carried the Ball up field got a quick play the ball for Cole, who took off from dummy half and found Liam with a nice pass who ran up to touch line and just got caught, Cole passed to Walter this time on the last tackle so he kicked ahead and both Liam and Toby were there to touch down with both of them claiming a try.
On pitch two Aiden was using is footwork to create overlaps and found the right pass for jack to score, Aiden, jack, Billy and William worked hard to keep the other teams scoreless.
Thanks to Leeds Rhinos for an enjoyable morning and roll on Sunday for our 1st league fixture away to Batley Boys.
