Match Preview: Jim Brown Heavy Woollen Cup Final Dewsbury Celtic (Neutral - At: Batley Bulldogs)

Shaw Cross take on rivals Dewsbury Celtic at Mount Pleasant in the Local Cup at 6.30pm - The Jim Brown Heavy Woollen Cup Final.

The Jim Brown Heavy Woollen Cup started for Shaw Cross back in November when we beat Dewsbury Moor 5-2 in a close encounter. After this we progressed to the Semi Final where we beat Thornhill Trojans in extra time after leading 18-0. Ryan Glynn kept his cool to slot over the winning penalty with seconds remaining.

On Saturday we suffered a 32-12 defeat to East Leeds in a top two showdown. Despite a disappointing result there is many positives to take from the match. Two years ago we were bottom of the league having only won two games all season so to be involved in this type of a match is great progress.

With six league games to go, Waterhead have to face East Leeds twice and Dewsbury Celtic, whilst a re-match of this Cup Final is scheduled to take place on the last day of the season.

The Jim Brown Cup has seen some great games this last year so to win it would be extra special and with all still to play for in the promotion race a win over our rivals would be good. Remember "Success is not final and failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts"...

Celtic have put some big scores on some teams this season and have one of the best attacking threats in the Division but their defence at times has let them down. However in arguably their best result of the season they held on well to beat East Leeds by a drop goal.
